Emerald Coast United Way Grant Boosts Senior Meal Delivery in Okaloosa County

Elder Services' mission is to assist our aging community members with access to a nutritious meal, enabling them to continue to reside in the preferred setting of their home. This senior meal delivery program is made possible through the support of the Emerald Coast United Way, countless hours of service provided by volunteers, and community commitment.

Emerald Coast United Way Executive Director Kim Fraley presented a check to Elder Services, marking their support for the FY26/27 funding period. This partnership allows the senior meal delivery program to expand into areas that are not currently served. As we continue to advocate for so many who have lost their voice, we remain appreciative of everyone's resolve to help our most vulnerable community members.

Our aging population is the fastest-growing demographic. Unfortunately, most are isolated and do not receive the attention they deserve — a lonely existence that can trigger early-onset dementia by almost 40%. Our volunteers do so much more than simply deliver a meal; for most of our clients, they are the only human contact they have. We would like to recruit more individuals willing to share their time to support our at-risk elderly clients by giving an hour during lunch to provide senior meal delivery and much-needed human connection. We deliver out of Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, and Crestview. Please consider being one of our devoted angels.
