Elder Services of Okaloosa County is a recipient of the Impact 100 of Northwest Florida $100,000 grant. The Meals on Wheels Program will benefit.

Funds will be used to purchase a specifically designed vehicle to increase our delivery radius. The truck is built with large heating and cooling compartments to maintain the food as we travel to remote areas of the county. This will ensure that food is kept at a safe-holding temperature in compliance with state regulations to prevent food-borne illnesses.

One nutritious meal a day can reduce hospitalizations by more than 50%.

The Meals on Wheels Program is funded by the United Way of the Emerald Coast, local donations and contributions. We receive no funds from national or state entities. We are indebted to our community organizations, churches, and individuals for their ongoing support.

The elderly population is the fastest growing demographic in the United States. 10,000 people a day join the ranks of this group. Just try to imagine that less than four and a half years away, in 2030, it is predicted that there will be more individuals aged 65+ than all those 18–64.

Please support this critical program for our most vulnerable adults either through monetary contributions or volunteering!

Community Care for the Elderly

Elder Services of Okaloosa County is the designated Lead Agency for the Community Care for the Elderly (CCE) Program in Okaloosa County. The CCE program was created by the Florida Legislature to assist functionally impaired elderly persons to live dignified and reasonably independent lives in their own homes, or in the homes of relatives or caregivers.

Elder Services also contracts for the Federal Older Americans Act (OAA) which assists with in-home services to help clients remain in the preferred setting of their home. The CCE program compliments the Older Americans Act to ensure the most supportive array of services.
