After calling our location on Hospital Drive, FWB, home for over 30 years, Meals on Wheels will have a new home. Once the County made the decision to demolish the old Fort Walton Beach Hospital, the search began for a new kitchen to prepare meals for vulnerable adults living in our communities. That search ended when we were approached by First United Methodist Church in Fort Walton Beach. They have offered our program a new home in their beautiful kitchen.Â
Â
Meals on Wheels was initiated in 1971 and has remained the flagship program of Elder Services of Okaloosa County. Our mission is to provide a hot, nutritious meal for frail and at-risk elderly and handicapped to assist them to remain healthy and independent in the preferred setting of their homes. This critical program is supported by the Emerald Coast United Way, area businesses and associations, and donations from caring individuals.
Â
The new location is less than two miles away from our operations on Hospital Drive. The church is located at 103 First Street, Fort Walton Beach 32548. The tentative date for our inaugural meal is Monday, January 19, 2026. The process will remain the same for all volunteers and frozen meals will be sent out during our move and settling period. There should be no interruption in service to our clients.
Â
We can’t thank all of you enough for your continued support through this period. We share our profound appreciation and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and wonderful moments filled with peace and contentment in the New year.
