Employee Spotlight: Karen Goodson
Meet Karen Goodson, Corporate Marketing Director at Elder Services of Okaloosa County. She is responsible for disseminating information regarding our mission to our communities to garner support and increase understanding. Karen has been a member of our team for the past four years and has a bright future ahead.
It’s tough to put into words Karen’s importance, but the reason we’re featuring her on our blog this month is to showcase our appreciation for her efforts. Karen has quite a reputation amongst employees who know her as well as among our clients.
Karen’s commitment and dedication to the job
What makes Karen unique is that she is an exceptional advocate for our most vulnerable individuals, our elders, and handicapped individuals. Her commitment is an inspiration as she spreads our message passionately to the community. She truly believes that we can make a significant difference in the lives of those who struggle daily to subsist. There is no challenge she will not accept, and she is eager to learn all aspects of the industry. She is fierce when it comes to sharing the plight of those who have lost their voice.
The communities we serve are much better informed with regard to the services we provide and our mission to serve those who cannot help themselves due to circumstances beyond their control. Karen is compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, and unafraid to spread the word to those who can help. I appreciate her blind faith in our ability to address the needs of our clients.
Karen began her employment as an Activities Director for one of our Assisted Living Facilities. After watching her devotion to those she cared for, I asked her to assume the task of Marketing Director for both corporations. Initially, she was unsure of her capabilities, but with just a little encouragement, she rallied her resolve and accepted the new responsibilities. Since then, she has eagerly engaged herself in her own challenges to spread information about our cause and those we serve.
It’s clear that Karen has genuine care and love for Elder Services of Okaloosa County, and we absolutely love the integrity with which she works.
When we asked her about why she loves working with us, she smiled and said:
“My experience working for Alternative Living has been a journey like no other. There have been many twists and turns along the way. The one thing I love most about this company is its willingness to receive input from its residents and staff. The heartbeat of Alternative Living is to provide affordable supportive living for low and modest-income elderly and disabled persons. I enjoy being a part of something that is making a difference in the lives of our senior community, and that is what Alternative Living is about.”
